20th European Conference on Integrated Optics (ECIO)

30, 31 May & 1 June, 2018 – Valencia, Spain

We kindly invite you to present your results at the ECIO 2018

The conference scope extends from new enabling materials to the design and modelling of photonic structures, functions, devices and circuits. We also capture innovations in hybrid integration, system-on-chip and system-in-package integration. Application areas range from optical tele- and data communications; optical interconnects, switching and storage; data and information processing, including integrated quantum circuits; and optical monitoring and sensing, including mid-IR photonics. Conference topics include for example:

Waveguide technology and platforms: Silicon photonics | III-V optoelectronics | Hybrid & heterogeneous integration | Compound semiconductors | Membrane photonics, wafer and die bonding technologies |Dielectric and polymer photonics | Non-linear and electro-optic materials | Mid and far infrared, THz | Production methods and foundry concepts | Novel coupling techniques of photonic integrated circuits and special optical fibers

Devices and materials: Waveguide devices – fibres, waveguides, multiplexers, diffractive optical elements | Functional devices – switches, buffers, programmable filters, isolators, polarizers | Nonlinear devices – wavelength converters, mixers and regenerators | Plasmonic waveguides and devices | Novel devices based on magneto-optic and ferroelectric materials | Nanophotonics, photonic crystals, subwavelength and metamaterials | Active devices – lasers and laser arrays to amplifiers, modulators and detectors | New Materials for Photonics– graphene and 2D materials, phase change materials | Novel modeling and simulation techniques

Integrated Circuits: Assembly, packaging and hybrid integration techniques | Test and characterisation of photonic integrated circuits | Optical connectivity – fiber-attachment, waveguides, micro-benches and free-space | Electronic connectivity | Flip chip bonding | Quantum and high precision photonics | Optomechanical devices and micro and nano electro mechanical systems | Novel modeling and simulation techniques

Application of PICs: Tele/datacom communication, optical interconnects | Biological, chemical and other sensing transducers | Spectroscopy | Quantum computing | Free-space optical communications, LIDAR | Photonic A/D conversion, logic, memories | Data display and beyond

   Conference and Venue

The European Conference on Integrated Optics has now reached its 20th edition. Photonic integration is an exciting and rapidly developing field, with growing activity at all technology levels, from high impact scientific research, through industrialization up to commercial products.

The 2018 edition will take place in the City of Valencia, which offers a combination of avant-garde style, culture and Mediterranean spirit, bound to captivate any visitor. There are thousands of things to discover, but we would like to suggest reasons why you just have to come and see it for yourself: 300 days of sunshine, Mediterranean cuisine, beaches, lifestyle, festivals and traditions, green spaces, 2000 years of history, cutting-edge architecture, unique nooks and crannies …

The conference venue is located at the VLC Campus, at the Universitat Politècnica de València Campus, in building 8E, 4th floor in the Blue Cube. An interactive campus map can be found in:
